Welcome to Aware Signal! It is time to create your first Policy and Rule. Before you get started, let's go over the difference between a Policy and a Rule
Policy: A policy is a way to organize similar themed Rules. Typically a Policy name is more general, like Personally Identifiable Information or Sensitive/Confidential Content.
Rule: A Rule is more specific and should clearly define what type of content you are trying to discover. An example Rule name is, Customer Address or Confidential Meeting Notes.
When you are ready, follow these simple steps to get started:
1. Navigate to Signal
2. Select the orange Create a Policy button
3. Name your Policy and select Create Policy
4. Once you have named the Policy, select the Create Rule button
7. You are now in the Rule creation workflow, name the Rule and follow the next steps in Rule Scope
8. Define the Rule Behavior Type (Hint: Use the tool tips below each Behavior type for additional guidance.)
Note: Selecting Advance Options will allow you to save content generated by events within Aware, regardless of Retention policies or User Data Removal requests.
9. Next, you will define a Rule Audience, starting with defining the Content Platform and where the Rule will look for matching content
Content Platform: Your integrated platform(s) will show here. Aware currently integrates with Microsoft Viva Engage, Teams, Meta, and Slack
Hint: Next to your integrated Content Platform you can choose what is included by expanding the section. Here you can choose Sources and Groups to include or exclude. This will help to reduce false positives by narrowing the content scope.
10. Next, you will choose your Global Sources, you can think of Global Source Type as who can see the content
11. Next, you will Choose Users which allows you to include or exclude an individual from the Rule. (Hint: You will need to know the individuals email address in order to complete this action.)
12. If you have Azure AD integrated, you will use the dropdown to include/exclude AAD groups. (Are you interested in utilizing Azure Active Directory? Integration is required by an O365 Global Administrator).
13. In the final step, you will choose your Content Author Type, you can think of Content Author Type as who authored the content
