OCR on Images in Search & Discover and Monitoring
OCR (Optical Character Recognition) for image files is now available in Monitoring and Search and Discover. Optical character recognition technology extracts and transforms text from images into a machine-readable format. The initial version of Aware’s OCR capability has been designed to recognize high contrast; digitally generated Latin alphanumeric text found in image files that are ingested into Aware. With OCR enabled, Aware will return triggered events for image files containing text that meet the criteria for a Monitoring Rule, as well as results in Search and Discover when images are found to contain text that meet search criteria.
Common use cases for OCR for images in Monitoring and Search and Discover would include text found in screenshots, images of documents, and images of payment or identification cards. It can be leveraged in Monitoring Rules configured with keyword, regular expression and/or credit card number conditions and for keyword searches in Search and Discover.

Workplace - Exceptions for Video File types
Retention now has a new exception type for policies - Video content. This feature has been released in a limited format for use by Workplace customers, however, it will be expanded to additional Platforms shortly.
The vision for Content Exceptions is to empower our users with the ability to designate varying retention policies for different file types - as a part of the overall objective of giving our customers the ability to retain the right content in their archives through flexible, configurable Retention policies.
Workplace customers can now designate a separate Retention period for Video files outside of their standard Retention period.
Custom Reporting on People Sets - AAD
Custom Reporting is following in the footsteps of Search & Discover’s ability to run a report on People Sets by AAD Group. This is a massive first step to unlocking the ability for our users to understand their employees and topics beyond the parameters of what the collaboration tool gives us with the umbrella feature for People Sets.
What to expect:
· Users will be able to run both Custom Audience and Custom Topic Reports on certain AAD Groups.
· Users can further define their Search after selecting the AAD Group by which platforms they would like to include/exclude for that AAD Group.
· Custom Reporting by AAD Group will be limited to messages that were created on or after August 22, 2022.
