Aware has introduced Role-Based Access Controls in Spotlight’s Custom Reporting to allow for strong permissions and data visibility by adding the ability to provision users’ access to Custom Reporting based on specific Data Access Sets (DAS).
Spotlight’s Role Permissions:
- Manage Spotlight Data: This permission acts as an on/off toggle for sub-modules; Dashboard, Platform, & Groups.
**Note:This is currently NOT controlled by a Data Access Set. All Spotlight users will have access to the Spotlight Dashboard, - Manage Custom Reports: This allows creating, deleting, and re-running of reports.
- View Custom Reports: This allows viewing pre existing reports with the associated Data Access Set.
**Note: Both of these permissions are controlled by a Data Access Set.
- Spotlight Admin: This will function the same as all other Admin roles where it gives all permissions and full data visibility within Spotlight. This is managed at the Role page and is indicated with a purple icon.
Creating a Custom Report with RBAC
As you start to build your Custom Report, a user will need to select a Data Access Set (DAS) before continuing with the workflow.
Once a Data Access Set is selected, users will go through the standard Report Builder flow.
**Note: If you chose to run an Audience Report, the Audience Type section will display based on what the Data Access Set allows.
**Note: You CAN NOT change the Data Access Set associated with a report that has already been ran.
Report Builder Audience Functionality Based on Data Access Sets
When a user is associated to a Data Access Set which only has Platform Groups selected, Aware will only allow the user to select Audience Type or Platform Group. See below for an example:
Exclude DMs - Data Sensitivity Option
This selection, previously found in the Advanced Options section, has been removed completely as it will now be controlled by the Data Access Set and the selected Audience.
